Finally, the tide comes in and covers the beach, where I was installed. The island is a jungle and a beach, nothing more, so I'm contraint to wait the end of the night, standing in the water. The second day, I have a long construction time. Indeed, my new shelter is made of stilts, so i can stay on the beach when the tide comes in. The storm is less powerful, but there are rain showers. Fortunately, second night will be a good one, and fishermans will recover me the third day. Andrew Lambert draws on voyage accounts, journal entries, maps and illustrations, and brings to life visiting sailors, scientists, writers and artists, from the early encounters of the s and the journeys of the eighteenth-century explorers, to the naval conflicts of the First World War and the environmental concern of more recent years.
Que bien se esta!! The northern part of Uruguay. Going further from Punta del Este to Brazilian border you should visit: - La Paloma: a small village on the beach, perfect for surfing: everytime when there are no waves or too much waves on the southern side, there would be a perfect surfing condition on the northern. And otherwise. Not during the storm i got into coming here: the northern coast had perfect waves but the air temperature and the wind didn't really make me wish trying surfing at all.
As for anything else, the village is not very interesting. A magical place, even better in the winter when there is no one around. A village with only 70 habitants, with no electricity and no water supply. A place to get disconnected and lost for a couple of days. And it actually has things to go apart from drinking and smoking : you got long trekking through the beach, the dunes, the forests.
Or yo can walk through the forest toget back to the route. Anyway, even though there trekkings are possible, they are much more complicated with all your luggage, so it's easier to come to Cabo by a truck: kind of a public transport that goes there about 5 times a day at least, in winter for uyu roundtrip. You can't come to Cabo with our own car. A calm but more civilised place. About 50km from Cabo Polonio and the same from the border. A place with loooooooong and beautiful beaches, really nice walks and amazing sunsets. And good people from all over the world.
